Washington Park Albany| Kevin and Katherine Engagement
Kevin and Katherine are one of the most chill people I’ve had the pleasure of meeting, and yes I know they are at this point as i’m typing this MARRIED and SO IN LOVE and have had THE BEST time at their wedding, But i can’t help but want to do all of my Blogs in chronological order! Let me tell you though, couple’s all start out the same, a little nervous and unsure and then completely confident and ready to just have some fun. These two were no exception
Thatcher Park Engagement | Jin and Dennis
These two are completely in love, you can tell by how much giggling they were doing throughout this entire engagement session. Even though you can’t hear them giggling and chittering away at telling each other sweet nothings. You can tottaly see the amount of laughing. COMMON MOTIF: Making each other laugh, one of many ingredients to love.
Cue haters of super sweet statements
If you don’t believe me, just check it out.
Sagamore Hotel Engagement Bolton Landing NY | Kate and Erik
Fun loving couple who are beautiful and silly and just love life? These two. They are a super chill couple who love a good adventure, but they also love being low key and easy going. We were being silly and overly dramatic and just having FUN all day on the property of the Sagamore Hotel and the day could not be any more GORGEOUS. They are having their wedding at The Barn at Lord Howe Valley and I could not be any more excited! We wouldn’t be super close to the water of Lake George, so why not an engagement session near the water to compliment this prospect?
Oh yea, We also practiced turns and twirls because her dress was SUPER FAB. It needed to happen. I was obsessed.
Long Island City NY Gantry Plaza State Park | Kristin and TJ's Engagement Session
At first this pup stole the show so I just had to get a couple of photos of this little one because WHO KNOWS when i’ll get to see this sweet heart again! I digress… :-)
Kristin and TJ were up for attempting this day’s engagement session because let me tell you, TJ is as tough as they come. He had sustained an injury to his foot and honestly, I convinced them to do the engagement session as long as they were able to move to spots. With our limited ability to be super mobile, TJ Powered through the session with a great spirit. Apparently, he was telling jokes because Kristin could not stop laughing with her beautiful smile. They are both adventurous and super fun people who are considerate of others and they LOVE being on the slope. Honestly, I can’t wait until we’re on the slopes for their wedding! Stay tuned for their 2019 Wedding!
Montreal Engagement Session | Abi and Mathieu
I first got contacted by Mathieu on Wedding Wire looking for a wedding photographer to travel to Spillian, little did he know that I’d be more than willing to travel to Montreal as well! I love this city with its rustic charm and its modern sensibilities. Funny enough, Abi and Mathieu met in Japan, and at this time Mathieu lived in Montreal and Abi lived in New Jersey and their fate was just meant to be! 可愛い (Kawaii) is only breaking the surface of how I should describe him, but most important thing of all, we had so much fun together, and things were so easy for them. I love that they were willing to be silly, to be sultry and especially allowing me to enjoy this Beautiful City of Montreal!
Brooklyn Bridge Park Engagement | Karissa and John
When I think about happiness and love and what couple’s are like when they are at their best together, I think about couple’s like Karissa and John. They laugh together, and I mean they laugh A LOT, they worry about the important things together, having fun, spending time, being happy and loving life. I am so lucky to find people like these two because they make sessions fun, because they keep things REAL with REAL happiness. We had SO much fun that day playing around in the beautiful urban setting and setting sun, and they hardly even noticed all the people just walking right through.
Brooklyn Bridge is ALWAYS packed with people, especially during sunset time and its hardly a wonder why some couples feel unsure about getting photos in these locations because there are so many families there enjoying their day at the park. However, we were in our own little world, and I love that about the city sometimes - we could be entrenched in the middle of a bunch of people, and because everyone is different, nothing is surprising. They felt comfortable just being in love.
Brooklyn Bridge Park Engagement | Katie and Pierre | Jay Zhang Photography
Katie and Pierre love being silly with each other, even if the camera makes them both super nervous. But in the way they snuggle and whisper and hold each other close, there is without a doubt something that just resinates between them. I don't know if I have the right words for this light fluffy heart feeling that comes with love and care for another person but thats how I would describe it. They love TV shows and they love going out on the town for some adventure, they work hard and they play hard, so the time they spend together is easy going, and low key.
Saratoga National Historic Park | David and Joe's Engagement | Jay Zhang Photography
David and Joe are two silly people. Everything about them reminds me that life is way to short to be so serious. They just constantly were laughing and having fun and enjoying themselves and thats exactly what I wanted them to do - to just exist with each other in their space. There was just so much laughing there wasn't enough time to think about negativity and insecurities, only time to think about having fun, being in love, and laughing all the way home. It was a perfect day filled with perfectly real people.
Yaddo Gardens Engagement | Darcy and Jonathan's Engagement | Jay Zhang Photography
Darcy and Jonathan are geeks, and I love everything about it. They love to play table top games together, D&D and Character Creations, fantastical lore, etc. They also have their unique sensibilities - Darcy being assertive, thoughtful, and confident and Jonathan being intelligent, kind and laid back. There is nothing these two couldn't endure and withstand and nothing they couldn't do when they are together. They are unstoppable.
Washington Park + Capitol Plaza Engagement | Albany NY | Katie + Ryan
Katie and Ryan are very sweet, they are down to earth and they are so chill. They're both super beauties and I don't think they know it (But sometimes though Katie definitely shows that she KNOWS she's beautiful - aint that right? Cause you are, Flaunt it girl.) They are definitely well prepared and easy going people who just love being together. They love their life, they love their dog, and they love each other. I can't say how much more full they are with love from all over, and its pretty cliche but they got their stuff together, and this wedding is going to be gorgeous! I can't wait for their day (even though I say that for everyone, its true!) They let me be creative and be inspired and I can't wait to give them something inspiring for their day in 2019 :-)
Hall of Springs Engagement | Chelsea and Joe | Jay Zhang Photography
These two have so much fun. The energy these both share and exchange with each other tells me that they are never short of always laughing. Yes they are romantic, yes they are like any normal couple, but man do they make every moment more fun than the next. I would usually say between all the laughter there are a lot of quiet moments, but really though... between all the soft kisses and the warm embraces and the sitting in silence together, are the belly laughs and the silly faces and the constant back and forth of trying to out comedy the other. I couldn't stop laughing, I want you all to not stop laughing either. My heart is so full.
Yaddo Engagement | Rachael + Craig | Jay Zhang Photography
Rachael and Craig are a one of a kind couple and they LOVE to laugh and it definitely shines through. Besides being gorgeous, they are super silly and love to just have fun. We walked around Yaddo on a day where no one else was around, lucky us, because we could make this session MAGICAL. I think their shenanigans and their beauty will just speak for itself.
John Boyd Thatcher Park | Tamara and Luisa's Engagement | Jay Zhang Photography
Tamara and Luisa are such a fun couple. They love to be silly, they love spending time with each other, and they LOVE to LAUGH. Our engagement session was filled with so much laughing, and loving and cuddling. There was even a bit of adventurousness, and some derpy climbing with attempts to not slip into the thawing river, but maybe I'll let them explain that one ;-). On to the cute photos!
Ampersand Bay Resort | Ryan and Matt's Engagement
Ryan and Matt found me online, but I knew that talking to them made me realize that they needed to be my clients because they are both silly and ready to party, but indulge in the quiet romantic moments when they get the chance. Of course they were a bit shy at first, and it was a bit chilly out by the water, but as soon as they began being silly and laughing and embracing to stay warm, I couldn't get them to stop smiling, not that I wanted to anyway :-). They just get better and better as the day went on, and my favorite moments from this session are ALL of the in-between moments. I can't WAIT for their day!
Woods Hollow Nature Preserve | Ali and Josh's Engagement
The theme of this Engagement session? Laughs, giggles, silliness ALL DAY LONG. Exactly what it was supposed to be, and my heart is so full from this session! I can't lie, it wasn't a perfectly cloudy day with no rain, it definitely rained, and they were definitely up for the adventure in this magical nature preserve. Ali and Josh were not nervous at all, if anything, they were excited, and they were willing to do whatever I wanted with a few requests - typically what my creative heart loves to hear!
NYC Central Park Engagement | Peter and Jason
I can't lie, it was a rainy Sunday in the middle of the city and there was no evidence of it stopping anytime soon! Fortunately, these two were up for the adventure as the rain sometimes took some moments to waiver in its strength and allow us to be less wet. Might I add that the penguin umbrella was not planned? It was essentially the perfect prop for the day, and we played in the rain. regardless of where we decided to take photos, things were quiet, allowing this hard working hyper focused couple to really enjoy their time with each other.
Yaddo Gardens Engagement | Angela + Dan
I first met Angela and Dan at the Century House Wedding Show and they won my free Engagement Session! They were nervous, as are most couples when they have to be in fornt of the camera, but once they warmed up a little and were able to be a little bit open with each other. It turned out spectacular.
Averill Park NY | Meghan and Bill's Engagement Session
Meghan and Bill live in their home here in West Sand Lake, and where better place to take some Engagement Photos than on their deck overlooking the Lake. Oh of course since we were so close we had to take advantage of the town beach :-) Lighting was great and perfect, it was an easy going day with a lot of laughs, and lots of smiles. I can't wait for their wedding next year!
Central Park Schenectady NY | Kelly + Tony's Engagement
Kelly and Tony are super fun and totally up for anything I wanted to create for them (which are always my favorite words!) They chose Schenectady because this was a place of childhood memories that is rarely visited now. So I took them around the rose garden just to spring up some memories and to re acquaint them with the friendly atmosphere and the abundance of life. I can't wait for their wedding in 2018!
Laughing Earth Farm Engagement | Stephanie and Todd
Stephanie and Todd are both working in fields that are focused on the environment and practices that aims to be less detrimental to our mother earth. One a farm girl who goes back to the roots of food and its role it plays on farms with the rest of the earth, and the other a boy who works for a new environmentally conscious material that has the potential to be used for anything and is easily disposable without impacting the earth.
BTW, did I ever tell you that I've always wanted to be on a farm? It is literally one of my favorite things to be on. I love the grand lush fields and the attention seeking animals and the hardwork and the wood structures. Its BEYOND cute. We got to explore a little more than what you would normally get to see so check out their photos ;-)
