Barn at Lorde Howe Valley | Ticonderoga NY | Kate and Erik

What a day this day was for Kate and Erik’s Wedding! There was an upcoming rain storm that was going to hit at sometime close to ceremony and there was so much left to do and things to plan for! When I arrived at the prep area for Lord Howe Valley, the ladies were almost done finishing up and the boys were quickly on their way, so we took this opportunity to take a couple of photos of the dress in one of the empty prep areas before they came. Everyone was in great spirits, ready to party and ready to celebrate and Kate looked absolutely GORGEOUS with her hair and make up done. First Look was going to be an amazing time!

When the Groom and his Groomsmen arrived, there was already shenanigans that were going to happen, someone poured into small cups a highly potent “Adult Beverage” for a quick toast, and you love to see the reactions this gets! We took some getting ready photos with Erik for a little bit while we gave the ladies some time to finish up and once Erik was all set, we moved on over to the Bride’s side. I love making the Bride take a moment to look at her dress one last time before she puts it on because its different when you’re admiring the dress as it hangs there for you, vs when you put it on and the way the Dress makes you FEEL. Once the dress was in, we made all attempts to keep Kate from Crying, sometimes its just an inevitable! We did a first Look with Dad before we were ready to take some First Look Moments.

Erik was feeling real nervous, but mostly he was excited and anxious - he couldn’t wait to actually get to SEE Kate, even though he can hear her as I placed her for the final walk to his shoulder. It was like a movie in Slow-Mo, he slowly turned and you can see his face just LIGHT UP the VALLEY. These are ALWAYS my favorite moments. They were so excited to be taking portraits, we took some right where they stood in the Valley, and then moved on over to the main Barn where their Ceremony was Set up Beautifully!

Unfortunately, Mother Nature had a different plan, a plan that involved the element of water so the Ceremony was moved inside and the Staff at Lorde Howe moved AMAZINGLY swiftly to set the room in a way that was conducive to the Ceremony of an interior space. When the ceremony was over, and the rain finally stopped during the twilight minutes of Sunset, I took the opportunity to take photos of this amazingly gorgeous couple out in the landscape where the clouds were wispy and the glow of the sun emitted behind the mountains. It was AMAZINGLY moody.

BTW Did I mention that the whole reception was Game of Thrones THEMED?! I mean, COME ON! HOW AMAZING WERE ALL THESE DECOR ITEMS, each table were a different house and had their own laser etched stands to tell people what house they belonged to, and REAL DRAGON EGGS (not real real) and a CAKE with DRAGON SCALES. GUSHING was not exactly the right word of how much I loved the decor, i was OBSESSED.

Although the day had some rain that had occurred, it was a day that was filled with so many people who were excited to celebrate Erik and Kate getting married, lots of personalities and characters hit the dance floor who were enjoying themselves. The food was amazing, the couple was beautiful, and the day was a success. Conclusion of my night, was with a sparkler exit with their wedding party that was the cherry on top.
